Q’eswachaka Inca Bridge: The Last Living Legacy of the Incas
$ / per person

The Q’eswachaka Inca Bridge is one of the most extraordinary living legacies of the Inca civilization. Suspended over the deep canyon of the Apurímac River, this handwoven bridge is made entirely from natural ichu grass, preserving an ancestral technique that has remained unchanged for more than 500 years.

As the last Inca bridge still in use, Q’eswachaka is rebuilt every year through a communal ritual carried out by four Andean communities. This unique tradition has been recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, honoring the cultural continuity and collective spirit of the Andes.

Crossing the Q’eswachaka Inca Bridge is a thrilling and deeply symbolic experience. The gentle movement of the bridge, combined with the powerful sound of the river far below, creates an authentic connection with Inca engineering and Andean history. This tour follows part of the Route of the Sun in southern Cusco, offering stunning high-Andean landscapes and a genuine cultural encounter far from mass tourism.
